National Film Festival to kick-start on October 14
The 18th National Film Festival will open three days later than scheduled due to the national funeral for revered Vietnam General Vo Nguyen Giap, said the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Film Festival will take place in the city of Halong
The 18th National Film Festival aims to highlight Vietnamese films produced since the previous 17th festival, together with excellent film makers and artists. It is also one of the activities to mark the 50th anniversary of Quang Ninh province (October 30, 1963 – 2013).
Film producers and artists taking part in the festival will have a good chance to exchange experience and promote cooperation, contributing to further developing the country's film making industry.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, due to the national funeral being held for revered General Vo Nguyen Giap on October 12-13, the festival will officially take place from October 14-16 instead of the previously planned October 11-15.
The ministry said the event would also be shortened, but some of the sidelined activities including a cinema with Quang Ninh exhibition, a workshop on film-making and distribution co-operation and an exchange entitled “Artists with Coalmine Workers” will still be held./.
