Vietnam is well-known for its rich culture diversity and lots of distinctive historical attractions, a perfect city for unforgettable Vietnam adventure holidays. Each city, province, and town in Vietnam has its own beauty that you may spend a lifetime to discover and experience. You can visit a busy and crowded city like Hanoi, a sparse mountainous area like Sapa, elegant beaches like Mui Ne, an old ancient town like Hoi An. Vietnam is a combination of everything that can make you feel satisfied. May I give you some information and destinations that are perfectly fit your Vietnam adventure holidays.
Weather in Vietnam
The weather in Vietnam is quite diverse as the Vietnamese terrain is abundant. There are 4 seasons in the North, 2 seasons in the South. Northern Vietnam is boiling hot from May to July, pleasantly cool from August to October, and cold from December to February. Southern Vietnam has a wet season between May and October and a dry season between November and April. The central of Vietnam has mild temperature with June and July are the hottest months. I suggest you have your Vietnam adventure holidays in August or September.
Transportation in Vietnam
The common vehicles in Vietnam are the bus, limousine, car, motorbike, bike, and plane. Many foreign travelers choose to go by motorbike or bike, but it is not a recommended vehicle as the road in Vietnam is quite dangerous and you will need to use Google Map a lot. However, with adventurers, these vehicles are probably favorable.
The cheapest and easiest transportation in Vietnam is the bus. You can travel locally or nationally by bus without difficulty. The ticket price for a local bus is about 7.000 – 9.000 VNĐ. If you don’t like public transportation, you can book a limousine to travel. The capacity of one limousine is about 16 people, and it is suitable to go to other regions.
In Vietnam, there are 22 airports available, including 11 international airports. There are various domestic airplanes for you to choose from: Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific, and Bamboo Airlines.
Arranging your Vietnam adventure holidays
As you want to have an adventure holiday, we won’t recommend you busy and hustle cities; let’s explore the natural beauty and have some adventurous activities. From my perspective, there are at least 3 destinations that you have to put in your Vietnam adventure holidays, and paying them a visit is worth a lifetime.
Halong Bay – World Heritage Site
Halong Bay has been too famous for foreign tourists for its natural gorgeous beauty. You can go to Halong Bay from Hanoi by car or limousine in about 2 to 3 hours. To explore Halong Bay thoroughly, you have to travel by boats. There is an option that you could travel by yourself, using the kayak. It is really entertaining kayaking through limestones karsts.
Here you will admire the marvelous hundreds of islands and islets. You will also have a chance to visit some breathtaking natural stalactite caves with imaginative formations. As there are various islets and islands to admire, you should start your adventure in the early morning to reach more destinations. You can ask the boat owner to carry you to some beaches around Halong Bay for sunbathing and swimming.
Instead of boating in Halong Bay, you can visit other tourist spots in the same area such as Tuan Chau Island, Bai Chay Beach, Bai Chay Bridge and so on. You can easily reach these places by boats, taxis, motorbikes, and bikes.
Trekking in Sapa Town
It is the most famous mountainous area in the north of Vietnam. It takes you about 4 to 5 hours going by car or limousine from Hanoi. The most favorite adventurous activity in Sapa is trekking, as it has a lot of majestic mountains to conquer.
You can trek in Ham Rong Mountain, Fansipan Mount, Holy Rosary Church, Silver Fall, and Muong Hoa Valley. Especially, if you feel exhausted that you can’t trek anymore, you can reach Fansipan peak by the cable system. Moreover, you can travel to several tribal villages to understand their unique customs, culture, and lifestyles.
The special landscapes here are golden rice terraces, stunning floral valleys in the humid atmosphere. You can try minority cuisine in Sapa too, which you can’t find anywhere else. And don’t forget to visit Sapa local market, where sells a lot of clothes and handcrafts with ethnic pattern. You can have a grilled buffet or eat fresh salmon taken from the fall. Sapa definitely contributes a special part in your Vietnam adventure holidays.
Experiencing Mekong Delta
Mekong Delta is in the south-west of Vietnam. Mekong Delta is called the “rice bowl” of Vietnam as this region provides a huge amount of quality rice for the country. Mekong Delta is the heart of Vietnamese agricultural culture. To understand and discover this delta, you may need more than a day, maybe over a week. Mekong river doesn’t start in Vietnam; it starts in the Himalayas, passing China, Thailand, Myanmar, Thailand, then reaches Vietnam. That’s the reason why people, as well as their lifestyles and customs here, are a mixture of other Asian countries. The most frequent vehicles are riverboats, tuk-tuks, and bikes. However, it would be more interesting traveling by local riverboats.
The highlighted landscapes here are hustle and bustle floating markets selling abundance of fruits, flowers, and other fresh food; golden and green rice paddies; busy local stilt villages; and greenish palm trees alongside the river. If you are lucky enough, you can even go inside a fruit garden to pick fruit for yourself. Flowing downside the river, you can visit some provinces such as Can Tho, My Tho, Soc Trang, Rach Gia, Chau Doc. Each has its own beauty and custom that you may want to spend more days staying here. The people are extremely friendly and hostile with the bright smile always on their faces. Local people also provide some private tourism bureaus for you to choose from.
If you are a true adventurer, you can’t miss any of these 3 destinations. You will never forget the experiences you gain from Halong Bay, Sapa and Mekong Delta.
